Should You be Wearing Compression Socks?

For decades, graduated compression socks have been used as a medical tool to combat deep vein thrombosis (DVTs). The socks have been found effective in reducing pain and swelling for bed-ridden and inactive patients which may support the prevention of the formation of blood clots.

A few years ago, however, athletes started wearing graduated compression socks while running and/or for recovery after endurance sports. But do compression socks really work?

You may not notice them during a game, but we’re all very accustomed to seeing athletic trainers in sports. They’re the first ones running out to an injured player on the field.

What many don’t know about athletic trainers is the meticulous preventative work they provide in every other phase of the athlete’s life. Athletic trainers work diligently to ensure a player is ready for the next practice and the next game. These principles can also be applied in the workplace via industrial athletic trainers, who are onsite to ensure every employee is physically able to have a productive, healthy and effective day at work – whether it’s at a job-site, on a production line, sitting at a desk or fighting crime.

Athletico Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 1

The NFL season begins tonight, but there is still time for Fantasy Football players to make adjustments to their lineups before kickoff.

To ease the decision process for those adjusting their lineups, we are highlighting tips from Athletico’s Athletic Trainer Jacob Dailey throughout the NFL season. These tips are put together to create the Athletico Fantasy Football Injury Report, which is a weekly roundup that sheds light on notable injuries throughout the league.

US Soccer: U15 Girls National Team

During the third camp of 2016 for the U-15 Girls’ National Team (GNT) in Portland, Oregon, I had the opportunity of working with the same coaches I worked with last spring in Carson, California. I was also able to work with some of the same players, so it was a great opportunity to see how they had improved and matured over the past year.

US Soccer: U-17 Men’s National Team goes to India

From May 11th -26th the U-17 Men’s National Team participated in the first every international youth soccer tournament held in the country of India.  India also happens to be the host country for the 2000’s age cycle world cup to be held in October of 2017.
