Big Brothers Big Sisters

Athletico’s Involvement

Athletico is proud to support the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters through various community projects.  Athletico’s president and founder, Mark Kaufman, is actively involved with BBBSMC, serving on their Board of Directors for the past five years and acting as the organization’s Chairman of the Board since July 2009.

Athletico’s participation in the annual Bowl for Kids’s Sake event in April helped raise more than $34,000.  Proceeds from the event supported the matches of 30 to 40 adult mentors with children in the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs.  In addition to the bowling fundraiser, Athletico has invited Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago to be part of Athletico Health Nights with the Chicago Bulls and Northwestern University.

Program Overview

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships with proven results.

For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping change kids’ perspectives and giving them the opportunity to reach their potential.  Over a century of volunteers, donors, and advocates are to thank for that positive change.

The Big/Little mentorship program is one of the cornerstones of Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Studies by researchers found that after 18 months of spending time with their Bigs, the Little Brothers and Little Sisters, compared to those children not in the program, were far less likely to take illegal drugs, begin using alcohol, and skip school.
