What to expect from your physical therapist
Physical therapists are highly trained health care professionals who treat and diagnose patients who have health-related conditions that may limit their mobility and affect their day-to-day living activities. Working with a licensed physical therapist aids patients in returning to optimal health.
Physical Therapy techniques may include:
- Stretching to reduce stress on joints
- Manual therapy to improve or maintain range of motion
- Modalities such as Ultrasound, Electrical Simulation, Heat and/or Cold therapy to relieve pain or improve blood circulation to the muscles and other soft tissues
- Exercise to strengthen muscles and to improve coordination, balance, and endurance
- Postural re-education
