Tips for Staying Healthy This Flu Season
Thursday, November 05, 2009

Something as simple as washing your hands frequently can protect you from catching the flu.As the winter season makes its way to the Midwest, along with it comes wind chills, snowstorms, and the occasional sneezes and sniffles.  But don’t let Old Man Winter get you down.  AthletiCo wants to remind both staff and employees about the necessary precautions to stay healthy this winter season.

  • Talk to your physician regarding the latest vaccinations to protect against the flu.
  • Wash your hands frequently.  Alcohol-based sanitizers are also effective.
  • Cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Maintain good health: eat a balanced diet, be physically active, and get adequate sleep.

If you have a scheduled appointment and have symptoms of the flu (fever, chills, body aches, nausea), we suggest the following precautions:

  • If you have a fever the day of your scheduled appointment, please call and reschedule.
  • If you have coughing or congestion, masks are available to be worn as a precautionary measure during treatment.
  • Both you and your therapist will wash hands prior to and after treatment sessions or utilize the hand sanitizers located throughout the facility.

If you have further questions regarding the flu virus, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.  AthletiCo looks forward to partnering with you and assisting in keeping a flu-free zone at all of our facilities!
