Perry Rich, PT, SCS, ATC

Athletico is saddened by the loss of a member of our family today

Perry Rich fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Perry initially joined Athletico in the mid-1990’s as an Athletic Training student where he provided coverage to many Athletico affiliates and rugby clubs.  Perry went on to graduate from Coe College with a degree in Biology before obtaining his Athletic Training Certification (ATC).  He then continued his studies in the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Iowa where he graduated in 2001.  Perry began his career at the Center for Physical Rehabilitation in Michigan where he served as the Director of Sports Medicine during his time there.

Perry returned to Athletico in 2006 as a staff Physical Therapist at the Schaumburg North facility before moving on as the Facility Manager at the Barrington location when it opened in 2007.  He served in this capacity until his passing on June 18th. Perry was an instrumental piece in the development of Athletico’s Mentorship Program, whereby, he positively impacted the careers of many clinicians and leaders in the company.  He was admired and respected by every clinician and student who had the pleasure to work alongside him and learn from him. As a clinician, Perry was devoted to the patients he worked with as evidenced by his consistently successful outcomes and the positive comments received from each patient that had the privilege to work with him.

Perry was originally from rural southeast Iowa near Washington & Crawfordsville and never forgot where he came from as he positively impacted the lives of many patients and colleagues who were fortunate to call him a friend.  Perry was a devoted father/husband, and a Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer who exemplified Athletico’s Core Values. He is survived by his wife Darcy, and their four children – Sam, Carly, Grady, and Charlie. Perry’s wife Darcy has played a major role in Athletico’s relationship building training over the years and a sounding board to new grads building their practice

Perry’s wishes were focused on a celebration of his life which is being planned for a Saturday in July. He will be waked this Monday afternoon & evening and the funeral will be Tuesday morning.   May God bless Perry and the person he was and watch over Darcy and their children and the entire family at this time.

Messages and tributes for his children’s education may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
