How to Make the Most of Your Time at CSM

The American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) is right around the corner. There are many things for attendees to do at the event, from networking to taking advantage of learning opportunities.

To help attendees make the most out of their experience at CSM, we reached out to employees who have attended previous conferences to ask them to share some helpful tips. This is what they had to say:

“Review the course/agenda so you can plan your days. Also allow yourself time to recharge and refocus,” – Mark Kaufman, Founder and Executive Board Member
“Plan ahead to attend courses you are interested in. CSM provides a brochure with all lectures and halls for each day. Narrow down your choices and make sure you attend multiple areas of expertise; not just your employed setting (i.e. outpatient ortho). Also attend a course outside of your area of expertise. I learned more and my patients benefited most after I attended several neuro focus lectures,” – Kayla Roof, PT, DPT, ATC at Athletico Mason City East
“Review the list of presentations prior to the event to select the ones that are most appropriate for your career goals or which interest you the most. Schedule time to visit the exhibit hall as there are opportunities to meet future employers and see new technology that is being utilized in physical therapy,” – Justin Novinger, PT, DPT and Athletico Regional Manager
“Plan your schedule in advance, be open to making adjustments, introduce yourself to others and be open to networking and meeting new people,” – Brian Kelly, Athletico Director of Outcomes
“To make the most out of your time, plan to use you break-time in the vendor hall, arrive early and go back to an employer for a second visit if you are really interested,” – Ann Payton, PT, Regional Manager at Athletico

Our Athletico team is proud to be part of CSM and excited to connect with talented therapists that share the same mission of helping people get back to doing the things they love. Our team is also looking forward to meeting attendees at the exhibit hall (we will be at booth #2041).
