Description: Attendees will learn key strategies employers can implement with new hires that will reduce injury rates and MSK spend. This includes understanding the benefits and implementation processes of Job Analyses, Post Offer Employment Testing, and Drug Testing. An employer representative will also explain how these services assisted them and met their needs to enhance their safety program.


Allan Hale, Executive Director of the National Electrical Contractors Association – Nebraska Chapter
Allan has been a business owner and operator for over 30 years. He has owned and operated grocery stores, convenient stores, catering operations, a glass replacement company, a business consulting company and a small business coaching company. Allan served as the Fremont Area Chamber President and CEO for 12 years and has served the Nebraska Chapter of NECA for ten years. He is a long time toastmaster and has served as president in many non-profit groups.

Neal Wachholtz, PT, DPT, Work Comp Program Manager at Athletico in Nebraska and Council Bluffs, IA
Neal is a native of Papillion, Nebraska. He has extensive experience in Industrial Rehabilitation and Functional Capacity Evaluations. Neal attended Kearney State College and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Wichita State University. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from AT Still University. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association.

We will get into how these services impact key metrics and how they relate to post injury care. Our guest speaker will discuss implementation and impact on their employees.


Mike Dees, CSP, Sr. Safety and Health Specialist at Missouri American Water
Mike is a Board Certified Safety professional with five years of experience in crisis management, safety management systems, and safety and health inspections. He leads the safety teams for American Water’s largest service center, with responsibility for over 300 employees. Mike implemented statewide training to ensure compliance and employee understanding of safety initiatives. He has been a coach for safety committees and multiple other groups.

Matt Weirich, OTR/L, CEAS, MS, Work Comp Program Manager at Athletico in Kansas, Missouri & SW Illinois
Matt has ten years of experience in workers’ compensation with emphasis in industrial rehabilitation, ergonomics, preventative wellness, mental health and program development. He earned his masters’ in Occupational Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. Matt works closely with employers to implement injury prevention training and education for workers and performs evidence based ergonomic assessments.
