Broken Tibia

Willowbrook Clinic

It was my sophomore year in high school and I was playing a hockey game for Downers Grove South when I heard a snap! Yes, I had broken my tibia. I was a three sport athlete at my high school playing football, hockey and baseball. I was devestated. I could not imagine not competing. Well, My doctor thought it was a clean break and we could avoid surgery and a plate being put in if I was willng to spend more time in a cast. The cast started at my hip and was eventually brought down to a walking cast right below my knee. However, after 6 months I had severe atrophy and that was when I met Athletico and my physical therapist Patrick Becker.

I was thrilled to hear my cast would be off right before the baseball season but I did not expect a limp when it did. Well, I never touched the baseball field that season and then the real devastation came when I was cut from summer ball with a simple explanation that I was still limping and I should concentrate on rehab and the upcoming football season. I could not see this limp leaving any time soon but Patrick assured me with his help and my commitment to him I would be playing again. He was right. He had me ready. I hit the turf, ice and field stronger then ever. He not only physically rehabbed me but he mentally prepared me.

I was determined to get back to being a three sport athlete in high school discounting my injury and Athletico made sure I did. I accomplished what I set out to do. A varsity letter in football, hockey and baseball and the best four years competing. I have since graduated from the University of Iowa and have been in the work force a little over 2 years but any time anyone needs rehab I assure them Athletico is it. Thanks again for investing in what can seem to be the impossible.
