Athletico Physical Therapy applauds Sens. Carper and Barrasso for their introduction of Senate Bill 5 to ensure appropriate supervision requirements for outpatient physical and occupational therapy services. This bill represents the continuation of an Athletico led initiative, in partnership with our industry allies, to ensure that Medicare’s supervision standards for therapy assistants align with state law and allow for appropriate access to safe and effective physical and occupational therapy services for Medicare beneficiaries.

Our physical and occupational therapy assistants are essential to helping our senior and Medicare patients overcome mobility challenges in medically underserved communities,” said Chris Throckmorton, PT, President and CEO of Athletico. “This legislation enables patients to recover faster with greater access to high-quality care, and empowers clinicians to practice to their full scope all while driving significant cost savings. We thank Sens. Carper and Barrasso for their commitment to increasing access to care for those who need it most.
