“Last August I ruptured my Achilles in the first performance as a Chicago Bulls cheerleader, and was expected to be out for the entire season. I have never had a major injury or surgery prior to this and am super active, so I was devastated at the thought of being off my feet for so long. After surgery at the beginning of September, I was sent to the Bartlett Athletico where John and I got to work right away!
It was not easy starting slow, and basically learning how to walk again, but John and the staff’s encouragement and enthusiasm celebrating every little milestone we achieved kept me going! John kept my workouts challenging and very engaging, so I always left feeling like I got a great workout rather than trudging through physical therapy and pain.
I was ecstatic when I was cleared to ease back into cheering at games as early as February! About 8 months and 101 visits later and I was finishing my time at Athletico ready for my tryout for next season. I never thought I’d be capable of everything so fast, and better yet, I felt stronger than when I walked in there! I ended up making it back on the team this year no problem. I can’t imagine where I would be without their amazing care physically and mentally, as coming back from injury is way more mental than I imagined.
If you are sent to them for your recovery, trust the process; you are in great hands! Athletico helped me reach my goal of getting back to the person I was before I was injured, running, working out, and working a very physical job in the OR at a hospital. And of course, making it back on the Bulls cheer team again.”
