Course Description: This evidence-based course is designed to present to the clinician the most recent and state of the art information in the treatment of patient injuries/dysfunctions of the shoulder. I have taken the comments & suggestions from course participants over the past 5 years and updated the information and have put together this outstanding course. This course will discuss the most current evidence -based treatment approaches to various shoulder pathologies & surgeries. Through lecture presentations, videos of rehabilitation techniques and surgeries, demonstrations, hands-on laboratory sessions, open discussions and problem solving of patient case studies; the attendee will have an opportunity to master new and effective evaluation and treatment techniques and strategies.
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this seminar, the practitioner will learn how to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy & biomechanics of the shoulder complex
2. Practice specific clinical exam special tests, joint assessment techniques & performance tests
3. Recognize capsular restrictions of the Glenohumeral joint
4. Recognize specific rotator cuff lesions & pathologies
5. Perform specific joint mobilization, stretching for the shoulder joint complex
6. Describe an effective and appropriate evidence-based rehabilitation program for various shoulder dysfunctions: Bankart repairs, Laterjet procedures, superior capsular repair; Rotator cuff repair; SLAP repairs; Motor control deficits; Biceps
pain; Scapular dyskinesis; Adhesive capsulitis; Acriomoclavicular joint dysfunction; Overhead athlete; Return to Play Criteria Evidence Based; Specific injuries to the female overhead athlete
7. Analyze specific exercise techniques and evaluate the exercises effectiveness
8. Integrate the information presented and formulate a treatment plan for specific case studies which will be presented

-Post-Operative Rehabilitation following Rotator Cuff Repair Surgery
-Current Concepts in Shoulder Instability (Management of Bone Loss, Capsular Injuries, Congenital Laxity)
-Non-Operative Rehab of Shoulder Instability (Traumatic to Congenital)
-Post-Operative Rehab Shoulder Surgery (Bankart, Latarjet, Remplissage, Shifts, & Plications)
-Rehab of SLAP Lesions: Non-Op & Post-Operative
-Open Discussion

Day 2

-7:30am – 2:30pm, 1 hour lunch break
-Scapular Dyskinesis: Recognition & Treatment
-Biceps Brachii Pain: Evaluation & Treatment
-What’s New in the Rehabilitation of the Overhead Athlete (Throwers)
-Rehabilitation of the Female Athletes Shoulder (Volleyball, Softball, etc)
-Return to Play Testing: Criteria Based Progression (Overhead Athletes – Collision Athletes) & The Laborer
-Rehabilitation of the Adhesive Capsulitis Patient
