3 Healthy Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day with Your Mom

by AthleticoLeave a Comment

Mother’s Day is approaching quickly, which means that many are looking for the perfect gift to celebrate their mom.

Some of the most common ways to celebrate mom include gifting flowers or taking her out to a Mother’s Day brunch. However, there are a few other things that can be done to make sure your mom has her best, and healthiest, Mother’s Day yet:

  1. Give Her a Break

Moms are busy. Whether they are working, carpooling or cooking – their main priority is to take care of everyone else in the family. Give her a break by splitting up all the household tasks among family members. You can even take it one step further by scheduling an appointment for her to get pampered. A massage, for example, can help mom relieve stress, lower blood pressure and aid in relaxation.

  1. Plan an Activity

Springtime is one of the best times to head outdoors for activities, and who better to spend time outside with than your mom?! There are many activities that can keep the whole family active on Mother’s Day, from going on a walk or bicycle ride, to planning a picnic at your favorite park. Just remember that in order to spend quality time with mom outdoors, it is important to keep distractions to a minimum. This may mean turning off your phone outside of the occasional photo opportunity (you can never have too many pictures with your mom).

  1. Let Her Catch Up On Zzz’s

Mom’s busy schedule means that she is likely not getting the recommended amount of sleep every night. By giving her a break with household tasks (as mentioned above), you can make sure that she is able to sleep in, take a nap and/or go to sleep early if she wants to. Getting enough sleep is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle, as data has shown that a lack of sleep can contribute to health issues like diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and more.

Celebrate Mom!

Moms are an important part of our lives and Mother’s Day is a great time to show how much you appreciate her. The aforementioned tips are just a few ways you can take a healthy approach to celebrating Mother’s Day this year. If you have any other ideas, please share them in our comment section.
