| Course Description: | This course covers a multitude of diagnoses in the upper extremity that are most often seen in outpatient orthopedic and sports rehabilitation facilities. Best practices for treatment interventions will be discussed on a host of conditions including rotator cuff tears, labral tears/repairs, shoulder instabilities, SLAP tears, total shoulder/reverse total shoulder replacements, UCL reconstructions, and tendinopathies. In addition, a review of screening for performance training as well as best practices for performance enhancement for the higher demand patient will be discussed. The clinician who takes this course will be confident that their treatment approach will be evidence-informed. |
| Course Objectives: | 1. State the current evidence on risk factors and impairments for a host of upper extremity pathologies 2. Illustrate best practices for treatment interventions for common upper extremity pathologies 3. Identify screening and testing measures through a functional testing algorithm to help maximize treatment outcomes 4. Illustrate best practices for performance enhancement in the athletic patient. |
