Athletico celebrates National Physical Therapy Month every October as a way to recognize our hard-working therapists and the positive impact physical therapy has on people’s lives. During this month, our staff also makes it a priority to participate in PT Day of Service (PTDOS), which is a global initiative that encourages physical therapists to give back and make a positive impact in their community.

Stretch of the Week: Side Angle Stretch

You will feel the stretch from your groin muscles to your inner knee muscles, as well as in the side of your body from your hip to your armpit.

The Healing Process of an Ankle Fracture

As all NBA fans know, the first major injury of the 2017-2018 season occurred to star guard of the Boston Celtics, Gordon Hayward. Gordon suffered an ankle fracture 5 minutes and 15 seconds into the start of the season.

This is Us: A PTs Thoughts on Kevin’s Injury

This is Us has been quite the conversation generator in my clinic lately. Since Season 2 launched this fall on Tuesday nights, it is all patients want to talk about on Wednesdays! Last week’s episode, “Still There,” was the first time that our discussions of the show could actually correlate with physical therapy. Kevin Pearson (played by Justin Hartley) had arthroscopic surgery to take care of a meniscus injury. Based on his pre-operative conversation with the orthopedic surgeon, he probably had a meniscectomy, a procedure to remove the damaged part of the meniscus.
